Where we should be VS. Where we are…

Dave here…

Hello, Hello, can you hear me at the back?
One of life’s great ponderances and sometimes obsessions can be “Where we should be, or Where we are”.

At least.. I have felt that from time to time. Maybe it started while I was at school, or perhaps it became ingrained as the years went by. You know when you reach a certain age and you should have achieved this, or done that.

Strange really, because these are all ‘man made’ goals or targets.

Clearly we’re going deep here, but I would just add that time will pass whatever, and as sure as the Sun rises and sets each given day, we can only do so much, and thats about as natural as it gets.

So where should I be now… well if the planets had all lined up correctly and the moon was in its right phase, the place would be Glastonbury Festival!

Yes the festival season is here, and yet there are no live festivals happening. But 2016 was a different matter. Barbara and I went and had the best time.

You see in my youth I was an avid festival goer, yes, before they became mainly corporate events and although Glastonbury Festival has become a huge, huge event, it is unique.
There are so many live stages and different areas to arouse the senses, that you can only really take in so much. Added to which of course you want to see your favourite bands and artists.

Now 2016 was one of the wettest years on record at the festival. So whilst dodging the rain storms Barbara and I went off to the The Green Fields, an area which has just about everything that you can imagine going on! Including Basket Weaving and Spoon Carving, no don’t laugh, it really was brilliant.

Initially we went into these tents to get out of the incessant rain, but before you could say knife, we were doing it. Whittling Spoons and Barb was weaving baskets!

You meet some amazing characters, some a little unconventional maybe, but I love the diversity!

For me though, the greatest thing about this festival has to be the feeling of community or oneness. A whole big bunch of humanity, maybe one hundred and twenty thousand people. 120,000 and that is a low estimate! There is really very little trouble and I guess that’s what makes it so special.

Let me indulge here and share some photos of some of the acts we saw/heard that year. Can you name them?
A £20 gift voucher to you, dear reader, if you can name all of them!

A little clue for the first picture, they have headlined Glastonbury three times, on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Your names will then go into the draw with the lucky winner being announced next Wednesday (24/6/2020).

Finally, we got tickets for the following year which was also amazing (and hot) made even more special by our good friends Wendy and Steve Thorburn, who came to the town of Glastonbury one night to meet up, and have Fish and Chips with us. I have to mention this. They are special x

So now to.. ”Where we are’’

We are still in the Covid 19/Corona Virus pandemic. Life will probably never be the same again.

But we are, or at least I believe it to be so, exactly where we are supposed to be. Sometimes you just have to ‘trust the process’, and accept what is.

Because the Sun will rise tomorrow!

Peace and love, Dave.
